Improvement of the quality of health care management through support for the development of regional health maps as a tool improving the quality of health care management – training in scope of estimation of health needs

Project concept and objective

The project is aimed to improve the quality of healthcare system resources management in cardiology and oncology through development and popularisation of forecasting tools – the Maps of Healthcare Needs. These two disease groups were chosen due to their impact on the healthcare system, resulting from mortality and treatment costs.

The regional Maps of Healthcare Needs in oncology and cardiology, developed thanks to the project, are advanced analytical tools. They present the demographic and epidemiological trends, the existing healthcare infrastructure and future needs in this area.

Accomplishing the project’s objectives was possible through training of hospital executives and public resources administrators in the use of analysis and forecasts included in the Maps of Healthcare Needs.

Target group

The target group of the project was composed of hospital executives and administrators of public resources. Indirectly, the effects of the project were to be used by government administration authorities using analyses of the healthcare sector in Poland, including the Ministry of Health, members of the Health Committee, National Health Fund, National Institute of Public Health, local authorities, hospitals, and other entities associated with medical treatment.
